Over the past few years, there has been a significant deterioration in the quality of rubber in general and not only within the automotive sector, but within everyday products too.

With this deterioration of rubber comes a much shortened life span for rubber products, especially on vehicle components like balljoint covers, CV boots, door and window rubbers and also fuel hoses.

Now that the condition of balljoint covers are checked as part of the annual MOT check, it is more important for these rubber parts to be up to the job and protect the balljoints themselves from getting contaminated by road spray, grit and grime all of which cause premature failure. One of the widespread problems within this area is the quality of balljoint covers being really poor with many of them failing and perishing after as little as six months use. Replacement balljoint covers are available on the market but the vast majority of these suffer from similar quality problems and struggle to last more than a year of use. 

Thankfully, there is now a solution. Mecatech manufacture universal balljoint covers which are made from synthetic rubber and one balljoint cover fits a variety of balljoint sizes. These synthetic rubber covers can be stretched to up to three times its size and can be trimmed to fit all balljoints on air-cooled VW's from Beetle tie-rods to the much larger Bay Window balljoints.
